Overview
No Me Without Community invites 3rd–5th grade students to explore who they are through the people, places, and stories that shape them. Centered in WAESN’s Identity & Agency Framework, this 6-week Ethnic Studies SEL unit builds empathy, self-awareness, and connection.

Students create personal timelines, conduct family and community interviews, and reflect on how belonging and interdependence nurture growth.

Educators will love this unit because it:

• Meets OSPI SEL Standards 1.SEL.SeA.1 and 4.SEL.SoA.4

• Integrates ML GLAD strategies and culturally sustaining pedagogy

• Builds classroom community early in the school year
