Description

Overview
The Middle School Bundle supports educators in guiding students through meaningful explorations of identity, justice, and community. Designed for grades 6–8, these units help learners build critical literacy skills while connecting academic content to real-world social issues. Students read, write, analyze, and create, discovering how their voices and actions can contribute to positive change.

Rooted in WAESN’s Ethnic Studies Framework, this bundle emphasizes Identity & Agency, Power & Oppression, and Action & Reflection. Through writing, music, and historical inquiry, students learn to recognize systems of power, celebrate diverse perspectives, and use knowledge as a tool for liberation.

This bundle includes:

  • Informational Writing: Activists of Color — Students research and write about changemakers who inspire collective action

  • Lyrics and Liberation — A unit that blends music, culture, and identity to explore expression and social movements

  • Human Rights and the Rule of Law — Students connect ancient and modern systems of justice to concepts of equity and fairness
