Overview
The LGBTQ+ Studies unit engages high school students in exploring identity, culture, and liberation through the lens of Ethnic Studies. Across ten adaptable lessons, students investigate queer histories, Indigenous conceptions of gender, and the ongoing struggle for equity and representation.Rooted in WAESN’s Five Framework Themes—Origins & Indigeneity, Identity & Agency, Action & Reflection, Power & Oppression, and Resistance & Liberation—this unit fosters critical thinking, empathy, and pride while connecting personal reflection to social movements.
