Learning Goals:
Learners will:
- preview texts to identify repeated subtopics
- continue to build background knowledge around activism
- examine implicit and explicit ways systems oppress groups of people.
- know how past and present movements and people have challenged systems of oppression.
- determine possible central ideas
Learners will do this by:
watching and reflecting on a short video
- reading, annotating, discussing and taking notes on a nonfiction text using reading roles
writing a paragraph with a topic sentence, supporting details, analysis and elaboration around activism.
