Learners will:
- determine an author’s point of view or purpose in a text.
- analyze how a text makes connections among and distinctions between individuals, ideas, or events (e.g., through comparisons, analogies, or categories).
Learners will do this by:
- reading the lyrics and watching the music video of a protest song related to their activism topic.
- taking notes on the lyrics and music video focusing on the message of the song.
- discussing and analyzing the song in small expert groups focused on fortifying and clarifying.
