SUMMARY:No FAIR! The State of Ethnic Studies in Seattle Public Schools
DESCRIPTION:Join Washington Ethnic Studies Now (WAESN)\, the Southeast Seattle Education Coalition (SESEC)\, and the NAACP Youth Council (N-YC) for an urgent community webinar on the state of Ethnic Studies in Seattle Public Schools (SPS). \nAs our community continues to fight for an authentic\, anti-racist curriculum\, this webinar will provide critical updates on the current status of Ethnic Studies within SPS. We will discuss the threats posed by organizations like the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR)\, explain why authentic\, intersectional Ethnic Studies is vital for our students\, and outline concrete steps for how we can work together to protect and rebuild these programs. \nThis is a space for educators\, families\, students\, and community members to come together\, get informed\, and organize for the education our students deserve. \nJoin us to: \n\nUnderstand the current landscape of Ethnic Studies in Seattle.\nHear from experts on why authentic\, anti-racist frameworks are non-negotiable.\nLearn how to effectively advocate for the restoration of an authentic program in SPS.\n\nRegistration is free. We look forward to seeing you there! \nDONATIONS ARE APPRECIATED TO CONTINUE OUR ADVOCACY EFFORTS.
